Birthday Cake Bunting

My first "baby" just celebrated his fourth birthday over the weekend, and I wanted to share this easy peasy birthday cake bunting I made to decorate his cake... it's super easy and makes a special cake just that more festive!

............................................................................................................................

Supplies:

Food Skewers, I found these at the grocery store, you get a lot for under $3! (Dowels will work in a pinch too!)
Colorful Streamers or any Decorative Paper
Glue Stick
Bakers Twine or String, I LOVE all the colors that Divine Twine has to offer!
Scissors

What to Do:

First I measured out about 12 inches of twine, added a little glue to the top of one of the skewers and wrapped the twine around while tightening and then tied a knot, do the same to the other skewer to connect the line. Trim off any excess.

Next I cut six little "flags" out of the streamer paper. I just used the length of the paper which was about 1.5 inches, the width was about one inch. Then I cut out a little notch on the bottom to give it a little more cuteness!

Take your glue stick and apply a little glue on the top of one of your flags, fold over the twine and press firmly to adhere the glue to your line, continue placing the rest of flags evenly across your line. Let the glue dry completely before placing the bunting in your cake!

Center your bunting in the cake, add some candles, and your done! Isn't this cute? You can use different colored paper, or even felt, or fabric to make your flags. I used the length of the skewers (which was about 10 inches long) for mine, but you can try cutting them down if you need your bunting to be shorter.
Happy Cake Decorating!!

Printout & Keep: Monster Beanie

It was Spirit Week at my sons preschool a few weeks ago, and each day had a theme where the kiddos could dress up special for each particular day. One day was called crazy hat day. Since we don't have an abundance of crazy hats laying around the house, I decided to make one and that's when the Monster Beanie was born!

This hat turned out so cute and we received so many compliments on it, that I decided to make a tutorial for all of you!

Supplies:
Plain Knit Beanie Cap - I stole one from my hubbies stash!
One Sheet each of white(I actually used glitter felt), green, red, blue, yellow, and black felt
Thread to match and a sewing needle
Scissors
Fabric glue - I LOVE Aleene's Fabric Fusion
Monster Pattern Pieces, you can print them out by clicking the pic below...

What To Do:
Print out the Monster template and trace onto felt. Cut the felt pieces out and glue (or sew) them on the beanie as shown. I did this hat last minute, so I just used a some fabric glue to adhere the pieces, if I were to do this again, I would sew the pieces on! The green spikes on top of the beanie were hand sewed using a blanket stitch! Enjoy this tutorial and if you make this hat, please let me know, I would love to see it!!

Kid Craft: Potato Stamps // Valentine Style

My almost 4 year old is starting to not nap, boo... so to keep him intertained we usually come up with some fun art & craft for him to do!

Have you ever made potato stamps with your kiddos? So easy to make! Carve your shape out of a half of a potato, add paint, paper, and you are good to go!

This buys me at least 30 minutes of "Mommy time" :)

Printout & Keep // Valentine Bunting

This months Printout & Keep is inspired by Conversation Hearts!

Don't you just love the colors and sweet messages on these cuties?

I've created some Valentine themed bunting for your personal enjoyment!

Click on each of the pics below to download the bunting, use the white hearts as spacers or add your own text. Printout onto cardstock, cut out and hole punch each corner, then hang from your favorite string or ribbon. We used red & white bakers twine, how festive. Enjoy!
