Silhouette Portrait Review

So I've been eyeing all of the Silhouette America products for awhile now, and was able to snag a Silhouette Portrait machine during the Black Friday sales! So glad I did because I've been working with it almost every day since, it's incredibly user friendly and has some great designs in the Silhouette Design Store. It was also super easy to upload my original content and make die cuts with it too! The best part was that I received a $25 credit to the silhouette store to add to my design library (score!)

I will be honest though, for some reason the CD software that came with my machine did not upload correctly to my PC at first and wouldn't let me connect directly to the Silhouette store, I am running Windows 10, but when I installed onto my Husbands computer (Windows 7) the software ran smoothly. I hope there will be an update for that soon!

The portrait is the smallest of the silhouette family with a 8" cutting mat, but I found it's working well with the media I want to use right now, below is one of the items I made as a Christmas gift.
The portrait made cutting vinyl and transferring it onto mugs a breeze!

This is a design that can be found in the Silhouette Design Store (Design ID #71903).

My only regret is not buying the bigger (12") cameo, because now that I have a taste of what this amazing little gadget can do, my wheels can't stop spinning!! But, I guess that will just have to be on my wish list next year! 😉

Below is a link to the eBay seller where I bought my Oracal 651 brand vinyl for my mugs, great prices and every color imaginable!!

Happy Crafting!

Wip Wednesday - Apples

Working on some fun apple garlands and banners!

For this project I'm using a Sizzix Bigz apple die and for the smaller apples I picked up Echo Park Paper Co wafer thin apple die.

Oh the possibilities! By using different fabric to create different textures, the possibilities are endless!

Steve, you smug blockhead!

So this morning, after only having five hours of sleep because I have a teething non-sleeping baby, the middle child (age 5) is demanding pancakes.

I don't want to make pancakes. But he has to have syrup! We compromise on waffles, and I dig out two freezer burned blueberry Belgian waffles that I've been in the bottom of my freezer for who knows how long. Pop them in the toaster, and throw the non HFCS $17.99 a bottle real maple syrup on top. Middle child then eats one bite and exclaims I'M DONE! (Face palm)

Meanwhile the oldest child is pouting at the table, saying I'm the meanest mom ever because I asked him to choose something other than oatmeal for breakfast.

What's wrong with oatmeal you ask? It's healthy, it's good for you, as my Mom used to say "it sticks to your bones". Yes to all of that. But guess what, he has been eating oatmeal for five freaking years straight. Yup, Monday through Friday since he was 2 1/2 years old. He only takes a break on the weekends for pancakes and bacon, he is now seven. I give in of course, because I love him and he's cute and I know he'll eat it.

Pan over to baby. The grumpy, drooling, beautiful whiny baby (boy #3) that will not allow me to sleep, proceeds to take off his diaper and start peeing on the tiled floor. His two brothers point it out to me while giggling of course. No probs it's tiled floor, it's easy to clean up. But he didn't just pee on the easy to clean up flooring, he also peed on a half opened bag of white cheez-its, then proceeds to pick one up. As I do my best pre Caitlyn Jenner sprint over to the baby, to try and grab the urine soaked cheez-it from his hands, I step on a lego. You know the pain. But it's not just any lego, it's minecraft lego. A Steve lego figure to be exact. That smug blockhead looking up at me, with his stupid pixelated shirt, point one.

I threw a dirty dish rag on top of the puddle of pee, and changed the baby's diaper. Turn on my keurig, put my French vanilla coffee and my cute little owl mug, and decided drink my coffee, in peace, on the laundry room floor with the door closed.

Good morning friends!

Ice Cream Party

It's almost summer, and what a better way to celebrate than with a little ice cream party?

My oldest son is turning 7 soon and he wanted to invite his friends to one of those paint your own pottery places. When we went to pick out the supplies, he chose a cute little ice cream cone treasure box for everyone to paint!

I went with his theme and decided just to have an ice cream cone them birthday!

I created a fun banner and goodie bags using this Sizzix Framelits Die Set.

It turned out so cute that I put some Popsicle garlands in my shop as well!

Wip Wednesday - Pyrex

A little look into my messy studio, what on working on today!

I'm an avid Pyrex collector, so when I saw this retired mixing bowl die from Sizzix, I knew exactly what do with it! It reminded me of the classic 401 bowl shape, so I decide to make a few appliques with it.
Not sure what my end result will be though, maybe some hoop art, maybe some garlands?
Speaking of garlands ...check out Oh My Deer Love shes make some really cute Pyrex themed garlands!!

Birthday Cake Bunting

My first "baby" just celebrated his fourth birthday over the weekend, and I wanted to share this easy peasy birthday cake bunting I made to decorate his cake... it's super easy and makes a special cake just that more festive!

............................................................................................................................

Supplies:

Food Skewers, I found these at the grocery store, you get a lot for under $3! (Dowels will work in a pinch too!)
Colorful Streamers or any Decorative Paper
Glue Stick
Bakers Twine or String, I LOVE all the colors that Divine Twine has to offer!
Scissors

What to Do:

First I measured out about 12 inches of twine, added a little glue to the top of one of the skewers and wrapped the twine around while tightening and then tied a knot, do the same to the other skewer to connect the line. Trim off any excess.

Next I cut six little "flags" out of the streamer paper. I just used the length of the paper which was about 1.5 inches, the width was about one inch. Then I cut out a little notch on the bottom to give it a little more cuteness!

Take your glue stick and apply a little glue on the top of one of your flags, fold over the twine and press firmly to adhere the glue to your line, continue placing the rest of flags evenly across your line. Let the glue dry completely before placing the bunting in your cake!

Center your bunting in the cake, add some candles, and your done! Isn't this cute? You can use different colored paper, or even felt, or fabric to make your flags. I used the length of the skewers (which was about 10 inches long) for mine, but you can try cutting them down if you need your bunting to be shorter.
Happy Cake Decorating!!

Neesy

Printout & Keep: Monster Beanie

It was Spirit Week at my sons preschool a few weeks ago, and each day had a theme where the kiddos could dress up special for each particular day. One day was called crazy hat day. Since we don't have an abundance of crazy hats laying around the house, I decided to make one and that's when the Monster Beanie was born!

This hat turned out so cute and we received so many compliments on it, that I decided to make a tutorial for all of you!

Supplies:
Plain Knit Beanie Cap - I stole one from my hubbies stash!
One Sheet each of white(I actually used glitter felt), green, red, blue, yellow, and black felt
Thread to match and a sewing needle
Scissors
Fabric glue - I LOVE Aleene's Fabric Fusion
Monster Pattern Pieces, you can print them out by clicking the pic below...

What To Do:
Print out the Monster template and trace onto felt. Cut the felt pieces out and glue (or sew) them on the beanie as shown. I did this hat last minute, so I just used a some fabric glue to adhere the pieces, if I were to do this again, I would sew the pieces on! The green spikes on top of the beanie were hand sewed using a blanket stitch! Enjoy this tutorial and if you make this hat, please let me know, I would love to see it!!

Kid Craft: Potato Stamps // Valentine Style

My almost 4 year old is starting to not nap, boo... so to keep him intertained we usually come up with some fun art & craft for him to do!

Have you ever made potato stamps with your kiddos? So easy to make! Carve your shape out of a half of a potato, add paint, paper, and you are good to go!

This buys me at least 30 minutes of "Mommy time" :)

Printout & Keep // Valentine Bunting

This months Printout & Keep is inspired by Conversation Hearts!

Don't you just love the colors and sweet messages on these cuties?

I've created some Valentine themed bunting for your personal enjoyment!

Click on each of the pics below to download the bunting, use the white hearts as spacers or add your own text. Printout onto cardstock, cut out and hole punch each corner, then hang from your favorite string or ribbon. We used red & white bakers twine, how festive. Enjoy!

FallVotive1, a photo by neesypea on Flickr.

Dollar Tree votives, tea lights, glue stick, fall leaves.... last minute holiday table decor!

FallVotive2

Collect those pretty Fall leaves from outside. Put some washable glue on the back of the leaves, then place on your glass votive, add a battery operated tea light and enjoy! Once you are done with these, simply peel off the leaves and wash the glass with soap and water :)

These will be on my Thanksgiving table!
